Northampton’s Hindu community proudly congratulates Rona Karavadra on her appointment as a new Magistrate for England and Wales.

Rona was ‘sworn in’ as a Magistrate on Tuesday 15 November 2011 in a ceremony held at Northampton’s Crown & County Court.  The ceremony was lead by Lord Lieutenant Lady Juliet Townsend.  Prior to her inauguration Rona received an appointment letter from the Lord Chancellor the Honourable Sir Kenneth Clarke QC MP, on behalf and in the name of Her Majesty the Queen.

Rona, who is a long standing IHWO committee member,  applied for the position of Magistrate a year ago and has since undergone various interviews and assessments as part of a rigorous selection process.  Having been appointed successfully Rona will now undergo training in December before starting her role in January 2012.

“This is a really proud moment for me and it gives me a real sense of achievement,” commented Rona on her appointment. She added, “I was nervous about applying for the role to start with but having gone through the selection process I feel more at ease.  This is definitely something I would encourage others to go for.
