Holi is a popular Hindu festival celebrated during Spring. The two main days of the festival are Holika Dhahan and Dhulendi. During Holika Dhahan bonfires are lit in memory of the miraculous escape of the young prince Prahlad. As punishment for continually worshiping Lord Visnu Prahlad’s father ordered the demoness Holika to carry his son into a fire to destroy him. Holika was burnt but Prahlad, due to his devotion to Lord Visnu, was saved from any injuries.
IHWO has recruited Tania Meenowa as Community Development Administrator. Tania is a young, bright and enthusiastic individual who will work closely with the Community Development Officer in managing the day-to-day administration of the office.

IHWO committee members and volunteers finally ‘let their hair down’ at the organisation’s Annual Committee get together on 16 January 2010. Around 40 people attended the event, which was aimed at celebrating the success of 2009 and gave people a chance to socialise in an informal setting. The event was all the more ‘special’ as MP for Northampton North, Sally Keeble, attended.
